Welcome to the Community Self-Reliance Group
of Hawkins County, TN

Mission

Improve individual, family and community resilience to adverse events by encouraging, teaching and practicing self-reliance skills and to serve as mutual support group for members and, to the extent practical, for neighbors and others in the community.

CSR Skill Areas

Medical (MED)

Practices to maintain health and fitness, medical skills for normal and austere conditions

Supplies (SUP)

Gardening, animal husbandry/butchering, food preservation/storage, logistics

Engineering (ENG)

Water, power, shelter, waste handling, construction/repairs, fire fighting, etc.

Communications (COM)

Normal/emergency comms, intel collection and analysis (normal and grid-down)

Security (SEC)

Neighborhood protection, small arms/ordnance skills, small unit tactics, self-defense skills

Notes:   The MED sequence is a comprehensive course. Please try to make ALL classes. 

A number of field days will be scheduled in 2026 with dates to be announced: 

SUP: Butchering; Plant foraging 

ENG: Construction projects 

SEC: Pistol and rifle training 

MED: Natural remedies; Disaster response 

COM: Digital radio; Antennas; Emergency radio practice 

Regular meetings are Second Sunday monthly 1-3 pm - 1-2 pm potluck meal - 2-3 pm meeting

* Each skill area has a Leader responsible for planning content within that skill area *
* Organizers for each meeting selected by Leader *
* Leader and Organizers responsible for meeting planning and execution *
* Designed to build knowledge and trust essential for a Mutual Support Group *
* Regular meetings Second Sunday monthly 1-3 pm with potluck meal *
* Jan – Oct meetings are located at Marketplace at 150 North Brownlow Road across from Shepard’s Center in Rogersville *
* Nov – Dec meetings are located at Shepard’s Center – 306 East Main Street, Rogersville *
